On 28th and 29th October 2019 the final conference of KINDINMI (The Kindergarten as a Factor of Inclusion for Migrant Children and their Families Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2: Strategic Partnerships 2017-1-SE01-KA203-034587) takes place at University Uppsala.
A KINDINMI workshop for in service teachers took place during the seminar “Bildungswissenschaft” at PH Wien. The workshop happened in module 1 of the Austrian nationwide course study for mother tongue teachers (30 EC) from 26.08.2019 until 31.08.2019.
University of Aberdeen organizes a day of learning conversations on 14 September 2019 with Dr Thomas Bak, Lucinda Geoghegan, Alison Forbes and students from the BA Childhood Practice and MEd Early Years degrees at University of Aberdeen.
In August 2019, Kirsten Darling McQuistan, Lecturer in Education at Aberdeen University travelled to Uppsala University’s Department of Education to work with doctoral student Sarah Campbell and Senior Lecturer Véronique Simon on the KINDINMI pedagogic kit. We had a really fruitful weekend with much thought-provoking discussion around the key themes and philosophies underlying heartspace, our kit concept, and a lot of concrete progress on the curation, creation and design of the materials.
The Italian National Agency INDIRE and the Spanish National Agency SEPIE organised together with Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna an international seminar on “Fostering Erasmus+ cooperation projects impact and cross-fertilisation on social inclusion and civic engagement“.
As part of the international conference EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CONFERENCE:”INTERNATIONAL TRENDS AND DIMENSIONS WITHOUT BORDERS”, which took place in Sopron, Hungary on 23-26. 4. 2019, the international project KINDINMI – The Kindergarten as a Factor of Inclusion for Migrant Children and their Families Erasmus + Program, Key Action 2: Strategic Partnerships 2017-1-SE01-KA203-034587 was presented.
On 11th of April 2019 Prof. Hawlik had the chance to have a discussion with Prof. Kirkham and discuss KINDINMI matters: What are chances and challenges of preschool education in Czech Republic, Scotland, Austria and Sweden?
Martina Sturm (Team Austria) wrote an article on KINDINMI, which was presented on 10th of April 2019 during the third national Scientific Conference of Northeastern University Colleges of Teacher Education in Austria.
Scotland is a country within the United Kingdom (total population circa 66.6 million) geographically covering the northern third of Great Britain, with a population of circa 5.4 million which is the highest level ever recorded with annual net migration +31,700 (this and subsequent statistics available as of July 2018). Although Edinburgh is the Capital, Glasgow is the largest city with a population of circa 598,830 and Aberdeen is the third largest city with a population of circa 220,420.
In the world’s richest countries, some children do worse at school than others because of circumstances beyond their control, such as where they were born, the language they speak or their parents’ occupations. These children enter the education system at a disadvantage and can drop further behind if educational policies and practices reinforce, rather than reduce, the gap between them and their peers.
